Playgroup Leader

Community Programs (a division of Novita Children’s Services) has established a Family and Children Program in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. Community Options Parent Engagement (COPE) offers supported playgroups, parent information sessions and a home visiting program supported by a mobile toy and resource lending service.

The aim of the COPE program is to improve children’s development and to support parents. The weekly supported playgroups run in partnership with Bagster Road Community Centre in Salisbury North, Parafield Gardens Children’s Centre and Lake Windemere Children’s Centre and operates on Saturday mornings.

About the role


Our Playgroup Leader plays an integral part in the development, implementation and management of activities suitable for preschool aged children. Working to provide an educational experience for children and young people, this position also works to support and empower fathers to play an active role in the development of their children. Working to connect fathers with other fathers, a key focus will be developing the engagement, support and network opportunities to enable fathers to take an active role in their parenting.

About you


The Playgroup Leader is self-motivated and innovative in their approach to running a successful program and working to empower fathers. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to create an environment of learning, support and connection between children and their fathers and parents.

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Clear & effective communication skills
  • Proven ability establishing rapport with children & young people
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting, coaching & empowering fathers and parents to build relationships
  • Flexibility to work on a casual basis including weekends
  • Demonstrated experience providing educational experiences to children and their families

What we offer


Novita is a child safe organisation and requires the successful applicant to complete pre-employment checks including a DCSI Child-Related Employment Screening. All Novita employees are also required to undertake mandatory training relevant to their role.

Please note this position will be paid in accordance with the Children Services Award 2010. Enjoy salary packaging up to $15,900 of your salary, increasing your take-home pay by approximately $5,000. Further salary-packaging benefits available include meal and entertainment expenses, accommodation and venue hire, private novated leasing and additional superannuation contributions.
